Mission of Hope – Easter Mission – Divine Mercy Sunday

On Divine Mercy Sunday we all celebrated the Resurrection. A real fiesta—perhaps a little less lavish than Christmas (mainly so as not to fall into the trap of commercializing Christian holidays). Staff, children, and guests arrived by bus at 3:00 pm. There were dances, games, sweets, and even a movie with popcorn for the children. While the kids watched cartoons, the adults enjoyed coffee (how could we celebrate without it?) and their own dances.

At 6:00 pm the bus took the cheerful crowd back to town. During that time we cleaned up so that Holy Mass could begin at 7:30 pm. It was celebrated by Fr. Ramón, a Spanish missionary who came to us from the “nearby” city of Jijiga (a little joke—it is actually about 500 km from Gode). We very much wanted to have Mass on Divine Mercy Sunday—and we did! Fr. Ramón will stay with us until Tuesday.
